More Digital Experiments and Decal Attempts...

I've been slowly doodlin' away digitally the last couple of days! I came up with a grass patch design that will suffice for now, and found how to apply it as a decal on top of an already existing texture. Neat!!

Current grass...with flowers!

I also drew up a rusted cog to litter the environment (I need to do more stuff like this...) to give the levels some character, and a fence image to contain the levels. (I still need to draw huge piles of junk to put behind them, though!! That'll be fun!!)

I ran into a problem with using decals, however...I could only get one giant image (such as the grass patch below...) or tiled everywhere. My teammate suggested that I put scattered object images on "Planes" to choose where to place them...I had trouble at first, as the image would be placed on a giant black square...but after exploring, found the transparency setting!

Getting there slowly...our game sessions "InKUbator" start up again on the 30th, so I'm aiming to have at least some basic stuff to create a feel for the game, rather than having grey boxes about.
Sonia has created a demo video of a level here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-6GYNnCM7M
But the art and "look" of the game has a long way to go!
