Drawing has always felt like a necessity for my mental well being; however, from inspiration/idea to execution, it can be a fairly isolating process. That's why I want to document this giant inked monstrosity through the medium of a game; allowing viewers to wander through a representation of my process from idea to execution of a drawing. A medium to root about in my head, maybe.
It's also just a nifty excuse to do two of my favourite things; draw a ridiculous amount, and attempt to make a game! For YEARS I've wanted to create an interactive piece; and this may be my last chance.
Here's a couple of pages of characters (refined drawings and game sprites) that I've been working on for the last couple of days; their rough sketches were originally in my "Doodlebook", which I'll upload another time.
Currently, my plan is to use RPG Maker 2003; I like the crusty lookin' graphics. Ideas are always blurry apparitions in my head until they're on paper, so maybe it's an accurate representation (or I'm just a terrible coder/programmer, and that's my lame excuse...)
I'm unsure if I should make a 'machine' theatric out of this idea, like I did the Drawmatic Converter 5000...I'll see how things go for now.
The Screaming Tombstone in the Desert of Lost Kings...it wants me to rot. |
Holeface the Cat...I feel like it's a guide type of character. Maybe because it's a cat? I guess you could store items in it's face. That's pretty cool. |
"Ghost Boss" and its battle sprite. This is my favourite yet...is that...Satan coming out of its mouth?? |
